Coast 2 Coast - Day 36 - Ocean Springs MS to Dauphin Island AL

It was a mystery state today.

We left Ocean Springs on what would be a long day's journey, but after two SAG stops we were supposed to enter into Alabama.

Actually, we knew where the border was, as the pavement changed, and there was a 'Welcome to Mississippi' sign in our rear mirrors, but there was no 'Welcome to Alabama' sign to be seen.

But we knew our route, and it was relatively flat, so we kept on going, and going, and going.

We had a third SAG stop for lunch, at the Catalina Bayou Restaurant:

where Hance had an 'Oyster Burger' and Anne had a Shrimp Po' Boy

And then we were on our way to the final approach to the entrance to Mobile Bay, and Dauphin Island.

To get there we had to cross a causeway and a bridge, so we had some expansive views, including from the top of the bridge, looking out to the Gulf:

To celebrate the completion of a long day's ride, after several day's worth of rides, we had some ABotR ('Adult Beverages on the Rail'):

and then settled into our campsite, where we'll have a rest day tomorrow.

Overall we rode for 79.2 miles at an average speed of 11.9 mph and a maximum of 28 mph with no flats.
