Revenge of the Headwind
Yes, the headwind was back, with 15-20 mph coming from the east again.
Which slowed us down yet again. And Hance had had a muscle strain in his quadriceps (top of the thigh) the previous day, so that slowed things down as well.
Hance went as far as the first SAG stop, but with an opportunity to add some rest time for his leg onto the full rest day that we have tomorrow, he skipped the rest of the day's route. Anne continued on to the second SAG, riding with support from some of the other riders.
There was some time before the first SAG to note the beautiful flowers that are in bloom, as well as more of the ranches that line the highway:
As Anne continued to the second SAG, she (and all the rest of the bike tour) had to join the motorized traffic through a Border Patrol Inspection Site:
The second SAG was at our lunch stop, where we ate at Ofelia's restaurant, which used to be a car hop:
Ofelia's is in Uvalde TX, which is where John Nance Garner (one of the vice presidents under FDR) is buried:
Overall it was a short day for us, with Hance going 23 miles and Anne going 40 miles. We had no flats and no Texas dogs.
Tomorrow is a rest day!
