We had a 65 mile trip from Calexico CA to Yuma AZ, which is right at the southeastern corner of Arizona. It was a mostly flat ride, going through the desert. We did get to see some of the Imperial Sand Dunes along the way:
And we got to ride on I-8 again, twice. Actually, it usually better to ride on I-8 than on the service roads, as the service roads aren't very well maintained. However, we can only ride on the Interstate when there isn't a nearby road that goes between the exits. Nevertheless, it's fun to see I-8 zooming along, and know that we're going to be riding on the shoulder...
Our second SAG stop was at "The Center of the World"! (also known as the 'Museum of History in Granite')
We didn't know that the Center of the World was in California (we thought that it was Fishkill, New York). Nevertheless, we took some pictures:
We were able to mark our journey from California to Arizona on the bridge over the Colorado river. (yes, that's the Colorado in the background)
Overall, it was a 65 mile ride, at an average speed of 11.8 mph with a maximum of 24 mph. We had 600 feet of vertical gain, and a matching amount of descent, so we're still close to sea level.
Tomorrow we go to Dateland.
